Ron del Barrilito is located in Bayamón, about 15-20 minutes southwest of San Juan. The visitor center of Hacienda Santa Ana is in a part of the original sugarcane plantation of the Fernández family.
The family started selling their artisanal rum to the public in 1880, and it has been produced the same way ever since (except they no longer distill the alcohol from sugarcane).
In 2017, Ron del Barrilito changed ownership, but the new owners continue to use Pedro's original recipe, processes, blending secrets, the lengthy aging process, and even hand-label each bottle with care.
These new investors have helped make Ron del Barrilito more accessible to everyone – they are marketing the brand, developing new products, and have opened a visitor center with tours and "classes."
With this beverage, you can prepare different classic Caribbean cocktails, such as a special "Old Fashioned" with chocolate bitters and topped with cacao. A delight! Another Ron del Barrilito-based drink is a fruity "Cosmopolitan." Delicious! And another is the delicious Piña Colada: topped with dried fruit — no doubt, beautiful and tasty drinks!
